Post-Conference Report ICERI2008

ICERI2008 took place in Madrid from 17th to 19th of November, 2008. It was held in the Convention Centre: Meliá Castilla Madrid.

It was a successful first edition, which received 420 Attendants from 63 countries and every continent.

WELCOME SPEECH

In the Welcome Speech on Monday 17th we could count with the participation of represented politicians of Madrid and the European Union:

SESSIONS: ORAL AND POSTER PRESENTATIONS

Five oral parallel sessions classified per topics included contributions from a large number of professionals from more than 100 Universities organised in the following main tracks in the conference programme:

  • Global Issues in Education and Research
  • Education: New Trends and Experiences
  • Research: New Trends and Experiences
  • New Challenges in the Higher Education Area: Internationalisation and Globalisation
  • E-learning and Virtual Innovations
  • Technologies and Methodologies applied to Education and Research
  • Technology, Software and Games in Education and Research
  • Quality Assurance and Accreditation
  • Curriculum Design
  • Experiences in University-Industry Cooperation

In addition, four poster sessions with 85 presentations took place in the Poster Hall which permitted to interact with other attendants. They included these topics:


VIRTUAL PRESENTATIONS

There is also a third type of presentation for people who can not attend in person: the Virtual Presentation. All these participants receive all the certificates and documents after the Conference. All their contributions are also included in ICERI2008 Publications.

ICERI2008 counted with 225 Virtual Presentations.

COFFEES AND COCKTAILS

During the two days of the Conference attendants could enjoy of a wide variety of typical Spanish food in the coffees and cocktails offered.


INTERNET ACCESS POINT

An Internet Access Point with 5 computers was available for the attendants to make their work easier during Conference days.

SOCIAL ACTIVITY

On Wednesday 19th the participants could enjoy the social activity: a touristic guided visit to Madrid: the Historical Austria’s Walk and a panoramic tour by bus.

The walking tour enabled the participants to visit the old and historical part of Madrid by foot, starting from Oriente Square (Royal Palace), continuing to San Francisco el Grande Church, Descalzas Monastry, Madrid Consistory, Mayor Street, Cava Baja and Puerta del Sol.
