Post Conference Report

EDULEARN09 took place in Barcelona from 6th to 8th of July, 2009.
It was held in the Convention Centre – GRAN HOTEL PRINCESA SOFIA

This successful edition received 455 Attendants from 60 countries and every continent.

WELCOME SPEECH

In the Welcome Speech on Monday 6th we could count with the participation of a represented politician of Barcelona and our Organizing Committee:

VIRTUAL PRESENTATIONS

There is also a third type of presentation for people who can not attend in person: the Virtual Presentation. All these participants receive all the certificates and documents after the Conference. All their contributions are also included in EDULEARN09 Publications.
EDULEARN09 counted with 327 Virtual Presentations.

COFFEES AND COCKTAILS

During the two days of the Conference attendants could enjoy of a wide variety of typical Spanish food in the coffees and cocktails offered.

An Internet Access Point with 5 computers was available for the attendants to make their work easier during Conference days.

SOCIAL ACTIVITY

On Wednesday 8th the participants could enjoy the social activity: a touristic guided visit to Barcelona visiting the following places:

Montjuïc Hill: Urbanized in 1929 for the International Exhibition. Montjuïc is a cultural attraction as well as a sportive one (the Olympic Ring).

Stadium: It’s a part of the Olympic Ring, the nerve centre of the Olympic Games, along with the University of Sport, Calatrava Communications Tower, etc.  

Mirador de l’Alcalde (Mayor’s Lookout): This balcony offers a Mediterranean panoramic view of the whole city and port.

Columbus Monument: Placed between La Rambla and the sea, besides the medieval Drassanes and house of the Maritime Museum.   

Port:  Converted into a popular city port near the city centre.

 


Arc de Triomf:  It was the entrance to the 1888 Exhibition.

Passeig de Gràcia: having several Modernist buildings including two Gaudi houses: Casa Batllò and Casa Milà or “La Pedrera”. 

The Sagrada Família: it represents the unfinished temple of the genius architect Antoni Gaudí, who dedicated the latter part of his life to this work, synthesis of his overall conception of architecture.
